  • Truly a #serenesaturday - there’s pretty much one crew member per passenger 😂. Happy flying hopefully!
  • Happy Valentine’s Day! What to get the wife who has everything?! This year I decided to dedicate time, something I suddenly have more of since our son started doing longer hours at nursery. So - this morning I got to work de-rusting her favourite Japanese knife and cast-iron pan, long neglected on the windowsill. Half an hour and some serious scrubbing later, the knife is somewhere closer to where it should be. Next step: mineral oil and TACKLE THAT PAN!
  • #wednesdaywisdom - ensure each family member has a specific place for their items - even the family pet will have grooming items, foodstuffs and so on to be stored. Young children like the security of knowing where they’ll find their favourite book. Partners and ourselves need a space to put our own personal items such as jewellery. Mixing wardrobe space, for example, blurs the boundaries of responsibility, meaning that Tidying is always someone else’s job. So keep alike communal items together, but give each householder their own space.
  • My intention was to share a photo of a marvellously tidy kitchen today. It was not to be 😂 - a weekend of sickness followed by general exhaustion yesterday means that this is as good as it gets instagram-wise today. We all have off days and off weeks. It doesn’t mean we’ve failed. It’s a journey. Plus my croissant is delicious. Perhaps in a day or two I’ll risk a coffee 😰
  • #mondaymotivation and @aplaceforeverything.co.uk have got the right idea with their #elfa door storage solution. Items are easily accessible but not untidy. The storage blends with the door so it doesn’t take over. It also doesn’t take up valuable floor space. Fab!
  • Preparations underway for today’s #lifeandstyleweekend with @leaahogg . It’s a #valentines special so expect roses, love songs (not sung by me thankfully) and talk of how to respect those sentimental items we collect over time. Can’t wait! Tune in over at Net TV, 12.30. Link in blog for online viewing.
  • #fridgefriday and it’s truly a day for celebration. Favourite houmous once again back on the island. I’m not stockpiling, but we really like houmous. Keep favourites stocked up. Very important for weekend snacking.
  • #tipthursday .... and we’re talking ironing. One of the things I see most often when working with clients is the dreaded ‘ironing chair’. Even looking at it can induce stress. So how to avoid or minimise that? *1. Iron little and often. Not a huge pile once a month. *2. Keep the ironing board and accessories near where you iron. Or iron where you keep the board. This does not mean that it should become a permanent feature in the living room 😂
*3. Remove clothes from the washing machine as soon as possible after the cycle is done. Creases prevented = less to iron *4. Try not to overload the machine - it’s counterproductive as items don’t get washed so well and become creased. *5. Stay motivated. Podcasts / audio books / fun music are your friends. *6. Struggling? If you can afford it, send it to the dry cleaner. They iron very nicely.
